The drink order that annoys flight attendants the most

Being a flight attendant isn’t an easy job – you have to ensure the safety of hundreds of people while they’re travelling nearly 40,000 feet in the air in less than comfortable conditions. When the refreshments cart comes around, there are a lot of people to tend to, so being able to move quickly is imperative. That’s why flight attendants find Diet Coke the most annoying drink that customers order.

According to a flight attendant who uses the pen name ‘Jet’ to remain anonymous on their blog These Gold Wings, the cabin isn’t pressurised to sea level, but rather 7000-8000 feet.

This means soft drinks foam up a lot more when poured from the can.

“The worst culprit for this is Diet Coke,” Jet said. “I literally have to sit and wait for the bubbles to fall before I can continue pouring. If all 3 passengers ask for Diet Coke I’ll often get them started, take another three drink orders, serve those, and then finish the Diet Cokes.”

While it may seem like a minor detail, Jet adds that pouring Diet Coke is one of the biggest slow downs in the bar service, “and on the shorter flights, those precious seconds count!”
