Hymn Fest 8 “God is My Rock!” concert at Glenview Community Church

Hymn Fest 8 “God is My Rock!” will be presented on Sunday, Feb. 8th at 4:00pm at Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm St., Glenview. Sing along with your favorite hymns accompanied by organ, brass quintet and timpani and enjoy anthems sung by the Chancel Choir and neighboring churches as we celebrate original arrangements and compositions by leading British church musician, Paul Leddington Wright.

Mr. Leddington Wright got his musical start as a teenager, accepting his first conductor and choirmaster positions at his local church at the age of 15 and completing his first USA organ recital tour at age 17. He studied with Sir David Wilcocks, Peter Le Huray and Alan Ridout at St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge. After graduation he did freelance work in the theater for a number of years, including serving as the musical director for the first UK tour of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’.

Paul served as Organist and Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral from 1984-1994. Under Paul’s direction the Cathedral Choir broadcasted frequently and recorded several cd’s. Their International tours included numerous trips to the USA, Jamaica, and one to Italy, where the choir performed for Pope John Paul II. He directed the music for many important occasions at the Cathedral, including the Queen’s visit to Coventry for the distribution of the Royal Maundy in 1995.

In 1995 Paul relinquished his full-time post at Coventry in order to make space for an increasing schedule of work at the BBC, conducting and arranging the weekly BBC
